Your photos, though beautiful, are again covered in a caption-resistant patina. I must be patient. Well, that green chick trying to put out the fire in the trees with the shell thingie could be subjected to scrutiny, but I'll bide my time for a real person pic.

Good shots. Nice use of shallow DOF on the dandelion, and avoiding sticking the subject in the center on either picture.
Funny how something as cool as a dandelion can be seen as beautiful in a field, but a scourge in a yard.
Are we going to see the green lady at night? I couldn't help noticing the lights in the water.

But as Steve stood there, showing no emotion, still as a statue, Mrs. Robinson's house burnt to the ground.
"I...uh...I just froze up," Steve mumbles as he walks home.
I hate dandelions...they make a mess of my yard:(

Now that the summer heat is kicking in, I'd love to jump right in that fountain.
As promised, these are a few of th epictures Taltap and I took in Como Park in Minneapolis over Memorial Day weekend. While I'm not doing cartwheels over either of them, I have to say they are both results of the same photographic lesson for me...crop close.
I'm slowly learning that there is a drastic difference between what looks good to the eye and what looks good to the camera. In both these shots, I started out framing shots that included much of the surrounding environment. It was a lovely day and the park was beautiful so i wanted to capture as much of it as I could. Sadly, the shots were boring. So, I kept creeping closer an closer to the subjects. From a field of dandilions to one dandilion to just the sphere of the dandilion. And in both the above cases...the pictures got better the closer I got. It was a lesson I should have learned from Anna...but I guess you have to beat your head against the brick wall yourself ;)

Anna - Thanks for the kind words. And sorry for the allergies...with al the flowers you shoot...I figured it wouldnt be a problem
Mark - While I stil dont know how to manually control the DOF on my camera, I can play with the pre-programmed settings to change it. I was certainly thinking of you when I snapped that shot and was able to try different settings for the DOF. Thanks again for the lesson.
I do hate the dandilions in my yard...but I have such fond memories of blowing on them fro my childhood. Plus...they realy are beautiful if you take the time to crawl on your belly in a park.
No night shot, sorry. We were busy watching a soccer game across town by the time the sun went down.
Jet - While I appriciate your creativity and am enjoying the scene...I think "Steve" is a chick, dude. Perhaps her name is Stevie ;)

Moksha, I don't know at what point in our burgeoning internettery relationship you cottoned on to the fact that I can be highly succeptible to childish goading (in other blog comment threads), but there's a small part of me that curses you for it. (There's a larger part of me that curses ME for it. And aw hell, there's even a tiny bit that loves the attention. But don't tell anyone.)
Dandelion:
"Hello? Hellooooo?! Is anybody out there? Can anybody out there hear us? Anybody at all? Please!! Goddamn it. Where the hell is Horton when you need him? Stupid elephant..."
Statue:
"The beautiful pool, the graceful pose, the look of unwavering concentration on my face. Even the artfully moulded shell I bear upon my shoulder, never mind all the blooming flora surrounding this peaceful place. And still, every time a junior high tour group walks past, all the boys snicker at my exposed tits. *sigh*"

Great photos! Wonderful signs of summer. Although, the dandelions aren't real wonderful, unless your 5 and under, in that case they are the most beautiful "flower" :)

How summery :) Dandelion's my new background - you know, until I snap another cute shot of my kid, then it's getting blown off my screen. An honour, too : few non-Xavier pictures have made it there in the last 11 months.
On a stroller ride yesterday, I noticed one of the houses in the neighbourhood (the old part) was sporting dandelions in their flowerbeds. No, no, not as weeds... they seemingly were intended there. Big ones, too. There were none in the grass, though - I was wondering about that : did they cut a deal with the flower, allowing it a proper place in the flowerbeds, as long as it stayed off the grass?
I really like the way you framed the dandelion, however that statue is just an awsome with all that water and the trees in the background!

I'll admit I almost missed the Horton reference. Would have had you not added the elephant reference. Thought you were talking about that Horton's place you Canadians are alwasy going on about. But now I dig the reference. Nicely done.

I have no idea how someone would go about cultivating dandilions. They refuse to stay put...it's sort of what they do. Peek in the window and see if there's a diploma from Wogwarts hanging on the wall.

Moksha, I added that last bit about the elephant for those to whom the Horton reference wouldn't be immediately recognizable. I realise not everyone is a Dr. Seuss afficianado. If I'd put more thought into it, I probably could have somehow tied that in also to Tim Hortons. Next time, I suppose.
I've pre-published my own WW post for next week while I'm out of town, so you can try your hand at this captioning thing as well, should the urge strike you.
