(I really like the pretty yellow flowers in the giganticized version. Nice touch.)
I love a good silhouette (did you know it was named after a man who invented cutting out silhouettes?).

Oh, this one is superb! I absolutely LOVE a good "tree picture", and I adore the sun flare at the top.
I know the sculpture is surely an owl, but it's easy to imagine a stout hooded gnome with great wings. Yeah, I think that's what I'll stick with.
The Story - I'm coming to realize that there are few places as photogenic to me as my in-laws' place up in Iowa. The flag pole that graced my first WW is just to the left of this shot.
On our way up to visit friends in Mineapolis last weekend, we overnighted here to drop off the daughter. I stumbled out, half awake with the idea of catching a shot of their old vine-covered windmill and was greated by this misty scene upon opening the door.
The statue is an old tree stump that a local chainsaw artist scultped into an eagle. Between the flag and the Eagle..it's a very patriotic yard.
Mr. Funny - I like the eerie as well...especially since that's an element that only comes out in the photo. The morning didn't feel creepy at all and I didn't realize how the picture would feel until I saw it on the larger computer screen. Blind luck.
Si - Concidering the Huskers flag that flies in thsi yard...the final caption is appropriate.
Mark - You are a wealth of photgraphic wisdom, sir, and I thank you for sharing it. I had no idea there was a Mr. Silhouette. It just sounds like a comic book character.
Emilie - The sun flare is one of my favorite aspects of it as well. And I will not try to think of the statue as a hooded gnome with great wings...it fits the mood of the shot.

Makes me think of the wings on the statue outside St. John the Divine Cathdral in NYC. Massive! That guy has a slightly more pressing issue than this guy, who is equally photogenic.
